About The Cot Project

We set up The Cot Project to answer a need within the baby loss community for greater time with and recognition of your child. We provide practical help to families experiencing stillbirth, miscarriage and neonatal death.

We provide support for parents with stillborn babies through the use of the provision of Snow blankets and a community CuddleCots based in Hampshire. These are for parents who wish to take their baby home from hospital and spend time with their baby in their own home. This enables friends and relatives to see them as well as giving the family time to make memories, take photos and means that, in many instances, their baby doesn't have to be in a mortuary at all. Being community based means that our services are available wherever there is need so we can provide them for families with babies born prior to 24 weeks as well as families where they may be needed shortly after birth. Our Snow Blankets can be posted to people who require them and we have small freezer units available for loan if required. Please see our stillbirth and neonatal death pages for more information.

We are the first uk charity to provide miscarriage support instructions to support parents experiencing miscarriage or ending a pregnancy for medical reasons. We provide these instructions to enable you to keep your baby for a burial or cremation. Please see our miscarriage page for more information.

Our pilot scheme is now active in Hampshire with the project being expanded to other counties as time goes on.
